Need a Weather App recommendation

I am wondering which Weather App would you recommend?

It's important to me that it have severe weather notification capabilities as we seem to be getting a lot of sever weather this year.

Any recommendations?
 
My Cast. Tried them all and this seems to................work! And it's FREE.
Weather Channel...slow, slow, slow.
Weather Bug used to be great, now the radar takes forever to load.
 
I used to use the Weather Channel, but switched to Weather Bug Elite (got it when it was free on Amazon). It's really good, very flexible, gives warnings, and the radar loads immediately for me.
 
I use 3D digital Weather Clock. I have that as my clock widget on my home page. It gives the time, weather and even battery level. But I use Rainy Days for my Radar.
 
I'm just now checking out BITS. Lots of detail available, extremely customizable.

One of my long-time dreams is to have SBSH.net's PocketWeather on Android. It's now on the old win mobile gadgets plus both iPhone and iPad. It's extraordinarily powerful and customizable.
 
I use 3 different ones.


  1. Weather bug is pretty good regrding the warnings as pop ups etc.
  2. Weather underground is VERY accurate in my experience and has a lot of data available for various reasons is important to me professionally as well as recreationally.
  3. Marine weather (by bluefin)
I have NOAA on my device but its not one of my go to apps.
 
After reading and installing, then ultimately uninstalling every weather app I have settled on a direct link on my home page to

It does not have instant updates the warn you of impending doom but with 2 clicks you can check yourself if you think one is imminent.

The thing that i loath about every free app I found and used was that you cannot load them to the sim. that means that a 4 to 8mb app is sucking resources all the time. Plus any add on widgets.

The best things about this is that it ia as accurate as you can get, it uses zero resources other than your data quotient, the maps are lightening fast as well as their animations, there are 10th day forecast, and there is a discussion area that speaks to their confindence on temps and events in locales, and its free.

Admittedly, I've only been using this for a few days but I like it so far. It is not pretty, with fancy hi-res wallpapers but it is the lightest and best fuctioning "app" out there imo.
 
Thanks, I'll try this. I use Weather Buddy (uses Weather Underground), basic info with warnings, 600mb on phone; and Instant Radar 250mb on phone. I dumped all the memory hog apps.

I misspoke. There is a 7 day forecast, not 10 day.

I hope folks try it a report back. I know people are sometimes looking for rich apps and I like them too. But since I can't root my phone yet cuz I upgraded the os, I only have about 60mb free with limited apps as it is so this works perfect for my needs.

I don't see a Weather Underground app on the Market: where do you get it?
 
OK, tried the mobile.weather.gov thing, decided I like Wunderground better, using same browser link idea. Weather Underground (Mobile) just add your zip code then set bookmark. Has detailed weather and forcast and radar. Simple, free, no app space. Just make a bookmark link and change your icon to something weather related and presto you have a weather "app".
 
It has some nice features. I like the current conditions and forecast being on the same page. I don't like the satellite imagery or radar look as well as the weather.gov site. But these are nitpicky things. It is the same principle and keeps it off the phone internally.
 
NECN weather app by a long shot!!
it shows storm tracks.
good when there are tornado warnings in the area.

Honestly there is no other app so light but with so many information and also beautifully designed like that. The function even as they are endless are very easy to manage.

Necn is one of the better "free" ones I have found...;);)
 
Was Amazon free once... I installed and it's cool, but ended up deciding it was too busy looking and uninstalled.

I just tried that NECN thing and do like it. The radar seems a little weak, I also have "Raindar" installed that shows rain in a few places NECN shows nothing.

Try zooming in to see more detail
 
I've zoomed and looked at several areas, but I keep coming back to Raindar for Radar. I decided I like Weatherbug Elite better than NECN, but also decided I prefer browser based links for weather, and Raindar for Radar, due to much less system resources. I keep trying the "big" waether apps, but always end up uninstalling them.
