Help Need continuous notification for email

Good day all, I have three exchange accounts synced to my phone for work with one of them being for alarms from a refrigeration plant I look after. What I need is for this single account to have a continuous notification alert until that new email is checked. What happens is sometimes the weak notification doesn't wake me up at night and I miss an alarm. I use the stock email app and not the gmail app. Is this possible because I can't find a setting any where for it. On my nexus 4 this was not an issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Install Ringtone Maker. Open the alarm sound you use for that alarm and pump the volume all the way up.

Or copy the file to a PC, use Audacity to pump it up really loud, copy it, paste it to the end of itself, do that again - IOW, make a really loud 5 minute long alarm. (An A-OO-Gah horn or a submarine dive horn might be good.)

If you can sleep through that, no alarm is going to do you any good.

I'd just copy the mp3 of something like Ace Of Spades into the ringtones and/ or notifications folder and set that as the notification tone. If you sleep through that then there's no solution 😁. You can do this with a file manager app like ES File Explorer, or from your PC using Airdriod or similar.

LightFlow. It can create unique alerts based on notifications that use sound, light, vibration, how often they repeat, etc

Free in the play store

I was looking at lightflow. Read some reviews that it wasn't working great on nexus 5 also costs 2.49. Think I may give it a try anyway. Thanks

As a lightflow user, I have zero issues with it. And most importantly, the developer is VERY prompt in fixing any issues that might come up. Very responsive.

You can try the free version to see if it works for you.

Everything this guy said times ten! No issues on my N5 and the developer has never taken more than 1-2 hours to respond to me and we live 8 time zones apart!

So I went ahead and purchased it without trying the free version. Don't mind spending a couple bucks for something that works for so many. So the application works good. Had to restart my phone before it would work but good app. Now my only problem is now that there doesn't seem to be any way to set it up for only one of my email accounts. This will get really annoying in the middle of the night when I get my normal midnight emails from friggin amazon or some other midnight emailer. Is there a way to set it up for only one exchange account instead of all three?

Thanks

You can setup gmail to trigger for only certain labels. So....

- Don't have it trigger for inbox
- Set up labels for what you want to be notified for (you have to do this on a computer I believe)
- then in LightFlow gmail settings choose those labels only for notification

What a stupid, horribly complicated process!!! I've already uninstalled lightflow due to the constant led flashing on my phone even when their are no notifications. I've looked at other email clients like blue mail and aqua mail but neither will work with my works exchange server. **** it might be time to look at a different platform...... How could this have been so easy on my nexus 4 running stock everything.... Depressing!

I have not seen the option to have it work for only one non-Gmail ID using the stock Email app. But that may be something you want to run by the developer - contact him using the google play link, and he is usually very prompt in responding.

Edit: In the interim, one option may be to set up only your workmail using the stock Email app (and have lightflow show notifications for that), and set up another Email app (k9 or aqua - etc) for all your other Email accounts, and don't set up lightflow for that app.

LED flashing when there are no notifications? I haven't had that happen to me yet. What color is it flashing? And in lightflow, what app is using that color? And for that app, how have you set lightflow up to stop the notification?
If it is really flashing the LED with no notification, please contact the dev - again, very responsive and will help sort this out.

Thanks for your reply. I'm very frustrated with this whole process. I never thought it would be this hard to do, especially on Android. I don't think I'm looking at doing anything too crazy here, am I?

Your idea of using two different email apps will definitely work but at what expense to my work flow. Having a combined inbox is one of the things I love about my phone. In the stock email app I can set up individual notifications sounds for each account so I think I will just have to craft up minute long sound and throw it on the phone.

It's too bad that from the stock app I only have access to the notification sounds instead of system wide sounds like alarms or ring tones. Can this be changed? It's been a long time since I've dug into the file system on any phone, guess I'll fire up air droid and see if I can copy a few sounds from the alarm to the notifications. Maybe that will be a good start.

Thanks for your help!

I don't think you can change the stock Email app's functionality/access.
I still think it may be worthwhile for you to reach out to the Lightflow developer and ask him for his thoughts - maybe it already supports this, and we just don't know about it yet.
