Help Need guidance for Note 2

Hi all. I'm what one would refer to as a 'senor citizen'. I have inherited a never used Galaxy Note 2 that was put away 2 or 3 years back & only now found again. As it's been not been used except when unboxed I think the software is out of date. e.g. the browsers say not supported.

This is my first venture into Android smartfones. In fact my own fone is 8 years old.

How do I update the software? i haven't a clue what to do.

Ok, you asked for it! I, too, am a senior citizen. I have had this phone since it first came out. Bought it for the (at that time) large display. I haven't even touched most of the bells and whistles it offers. So my directions might be unprofessional. Go to your Home Page. The button in the lower left (not really a "button") Scroll down to Settings. Scroll down and at the very bottom is Software Update. This phone has stopped being supported. My last Software Update was 06/20/2014... hope my unprofessional directions helped!

Thanks for being so gracious (considering that I gave you the WRONG advice)! The only thing I can think of is that the Software Update at the end of the list might have appeared long ago after my first update and that I, too, had to use About at least once! Anyway, I just wanted to suggest that you try Googling your questions. I have always had great success doing that. As a matter of fact, I just tried Googling the Update question and got the answer to go to About! Have fun with your new phone!

You might want to check the state of the battery, and may even consider replacement. As the phone hasn't been used for 2 or 3 years, LiPo batteries don't like being left discharged for extended periods, they can degrade. Like if it starts bulging or becomes excessively hot, replace it immediately. The capacity will likely be degraded anyway.

About the Note 2 battery. Mine finally degraded to the point of being aggravating about a month ago. I checked for replacements on Amazon but I didn't like the majority of the reviews. Bad battery for one reason or another... luckily, and I do mean luckily, I went to Samsung.com> Accessories> Cell Phone Accessories and found them for $25. Worth the money for peace of mind...

I'll keep that in mind. How do I load my e-books I want to listen to? Where do I store them & do I need software on PC?

Listen to, you mean audiobooks? If it's Audible, you just install the Audible app, put your account details in, and there's all your library available for downloading and listening, no PC required.:thumbsupdroid: If you got e-books from Amazon, Kobo or Nook, it's pretty much the same.

My stuff are audiobooks & lectures already downloaded MP3s & MP4s in my PC. I just copy/pasted then onto the sandisk micro SD. No problem?

Another issue is I have a motorola s305 bluetooth stereo headset but the Note II cannot see it. What can I do? Google says they are a happy team.

This a mystery. The Note II can scan & pick up everything but the 305. Yet my other fone can see the 305 no worries. Pity. The 305 is an excellent headset.
