Help Need help badly on speeding up my phone

My phone is VERY slow most of the time. I don't know why it's so slow. It can get very leggy at any time, and I wonder why all the other phones I see either out in public or with my friends never lag. I've search throughout dozens of articles, YouTube videos, and posts, and I can't speed up my phone even after going through all the procedures. I think the problem might be just that the brand of the phone is very weird and not a mainstream phone. It is a BLU Tank 4.5 (I'm sure you've never heard of that phone before). The specs are listed here: (http://www.gsmarena.com/blu_tank_4_5-5294.php) Like I said earlier, I've tried lots of ways to speed up my phone. I've already removed live wallpapers, uninstalled unused apps, cleared app cache, and the such. My phone is rooted, but I don't think adding a custom rom will help because of how obsolete my phone is. I also have no clue on how to overclock and add a custom rom, which could be too risky. Should I just get a new phone? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

The cpu does seem a bit below par. Tbh if you aren't into flashing a custom kernel (if available), and overclocking, I'd be looking for a new phone.
For a cheap/good phone, check out the Moto G (2014) and the OnePlus One :thumbsupdroid:

PS as a last ditch effort to speed things up, if it's only recently became slow, you could try a factory reset.
If it's always been this way there's not much you can do without flashing

Mediatek dual-core running at 1GHz, that's just going to be slow, end of. The Blu Tank 4.5 is a rather low-end budget device, and that was a couple of years ago. Want to see any major change to something that isn't slow and laggy, you'll be buying a new higher specced phone.

Both of those are good answers, and I'd say that if you can't afford a new phone as Mike suggested, take all your pics and videos and anything else you want to save and do a factory reset as Funky suggested. As long as you don't start downloading a lot of apps again it should at least run faster than it is now.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will consider to get a new phone. I looked up the Moto G (2014), and I really do like it. In the meantime, I'll think about factory resting.
