Help need help connecting my phone for the 2.3 gingerbread update

im having problem getting my optimus v to connect to lg support tool update so i can start the update to 2.3 gingerbread.my computer recognize the phone is plugged in but the lg support update tool does not recognize that the phone is hooked up. so if anybody had the same problem and then got it to work would love to know how u did it.
 
well there has 2 be because the lady at lg tried to help me but couldn't get past the problem of lg support tool update
 
There's not. VM would never push a huge update like this without letting us know first. That, and it would be alllllllll over the mobile news sites. There's nothing on the VM Twitter or FB pages where the customer service reps are offering assistance with any new Gingerbread updates.. which is what they'll do when/if they decide to push out an over the air update. A popup box appears on your screen telling you that there's a new Android update. No one has gotten that popup box. There is also a web page they send you to so you can see the exact steps you need to take for the update (such as backing up your stuff etc).

There's also nothing to be seen about this on their own news pages.
 
That update has been there for months. It doesn't work when you try to apply it or try to get it can't remember it's been so long. In short, LG knows it's there, doesn't know who put it there but it's not supposed to be there.
