Apps Need Help Developing an App

I am interested in developing an app for the Motorola Droid which downloads an update.zip file, automatically places it to the root of the SD card, and launchs the phone into recovery and installs the file, and then reboots. Is this possible without root access? How difficult would this be to accomplish? Any devs interested in helping me (I've never developed an app before..)?

Doesnt sound too involved. Maybe when im done my current app I will take a look into that.

In order to do what you want, root is required. Futhermore, a custom recovery would also be required to be installed beforehand.
