Help NEED HELP FROM ANDROID GURU(Prove Yourself)

Hi There,

I have an Xperia Z3 with a screen that has stopped working. No Visual, no touch. Backlight comes on however.

Booting phone I can hear the sound of the boot.

I plug the phone into my computer and the device shows up HOWEVER I CANNOT ACCESS THE INTERNAL STORAGE due to the PIN LOCK SCREEN.

I did not keep USB Debugging on so I cannot use adb to send keystrokes to unlock the screen.

I ordered an OTG USB cable and attached a Keyboard and when pressing keys on the keyboard I hear the clicks as if moving around the screen.

Unfortunately when I press the numbers I do not hear the clicks pressing enter I do not hear clicks either.

So for an android guru, how can I access the internal storage on this phone, I went on a vacation and would hate to lose the photos. There is still warranty on the phone but if I send it to Sony they will not provide my backup.

Can I transplant the hardware to another phone ? What type of connection does the harddisk use could I attach it to my Lubuntu box with an adapter ??

PLEASE HELP !

It doesn't have a hard disk, it's all soldered chips so there's no way to transplant/move etc.

Are you sure the pics are on the internal memory and not an SD Card?

Would something like this help? http://www.miniinthebox.com/multifu...ble-for-samsung-galaxy-s4-note3_p3628073.html

Plug the Micro USB into the phone, use a HDMI cable to plug it in to a TV/Monitor, then plug a mouse in to the USB socket on the adaptor. If it works as expected, the phones screen should display on the Monitor and you should be able to use the mouse to click and unlock the phone.

The flash storage is soldered to the board, so the USB port is your only connection. You could swap the motherboard to another Z3 though replacing the screen would be simpler. Either would void your warranty.

I don't suppose you store photos on a removable card? l would set it that way myself for this very reason.

You are sure the touchscreen isn't working as well as the display being dead? If so I don't have any solution.

Edit: not only ninja'd but outclassed by that last suggestion. :D

This would be an excellent solution however the Z3 has a 5 pin USB not 11 pin so it cannot use MHL and USB at the same time.

Yes unfortunately they are not on a removable drive they are on the internal storage.

Perhaps the best thing to do is swap the Motherboard into another Z3 since its soldered ?

That's unfortunate. :(

Can you double check they've not automatically been uploaded to the Google Photos service: https://www.google.com/photos/about/

Or the official Sony alternative, Play Memories: http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/playmemories

If not there, I don't know what else to suggest.

I know standard practice is to wipe and reflash original software when you go for an OEM repair, but I've heard of HTC not wiping when asked. Alternatively, do you have anywhere local that could do it? They'd be more likely do not wipe if you asked them.

Or try it yourself? As it's a screen issue (or so it seems), have a look here: http://www.repairsuniverse.com/sony-xperia-z3-screen-replacement-repair-parts.html

The parts are relatively cheap and they've great customer service and they'll either help with any questions you have or they will repair it for you.

I think I am going to try with the screen replacement as suggested that way I can preserve my data.

My only worried is that there may be other parts that are in disarray as well. When I plug in the OTG usb keyboard I feel like there is interference on the screen as i can here clicking like the cursor is moving around some times.
