Help Need help getting set up on WiFi, please

I just got a refurb Tab 4 8.0. I'm having an impossible time getting past the set-up screens on this thing! I can connect to a WiFi signal, but because I'm still in set-up I can't get to a browser to open and validate the connection.

I walk through the date and time and all that, and enter my gmail info. But it can't connect -- of course not, because it won't let me get to the apps to open a browser and validate the connection!

I feel trapped here. What do I do now??

When I sat mine up didn't have to open a browser. I went to settings; Connections, it scanned for wifi; tap on wifi connection you want and enter password.

Also, go to Google play store, and make sure whichever browser you are using is up to date. In fact, make sure everything is up to date.

But that is the entire problem .... I can't get into anything - Settings, browser, nothing!!! I power on and get the Welcome screen to select language. The WiFi is connected, but I'm not validated because I haven't entered the password. But I can't get to a screen that will let me open a browser.

Start button on bottom of screen takes me to Date and Time. Next button goes to EULA. That next button goes to Got Google? If I say Yes, it wants me to sign in and connect with my account - which I'd love to do, except the WiFi connection is blocking me because I can't open a browser to enter the password to validate.

So this time I skip past my Google, Samsung, Dropbox, and other junk to get to Finish. Finally!! A home screen! Now I can open a browser and enter the password. Settings, Add Account - and it doesn't connect!!

Frustrating!!

I don't understand why you have to open up a browser, that is totally weird. I just went into settings on the tablet itself (not in a browser) and sat up wifi that way. When I went into tablet settings, under wifi it scanned for available wifi, picked mine, enter password, it accepted. Then I could go into a browser and on the internet with no problem.

Dunno what I did different, but I managed to connect my Google account. Finally!!

Solved - just don't know how...
