Need Help. In a Startup Loop

My Hero is in a startup loop. Has anyone else ever had this problem? What is the fix. I can't get the phone to start up so that I can do a factory reset. Is there anyway to do a manual factory reset? Any help would be appreciated.

BTW - I am not rooted

Have you tried taking out the battery?

Hold the Home + Back buttons, tap end (red) button.
