Help Need help on wi/fi connection

Guys please help,

I yesterday, got a Samsung Galaxy mini GT-S5570 . As I live in dorm, i share my computer's network connection as wireless. But my phone cant see it, even if my room m8's iphone does. Ive searched for it but I really dont know how to set static ip etc on the phone, moreover shouldnt it be more general as in connection...

I resetted my phone to root settings, I tried live battery take off nothing works. So I think it needs special adjustment.

I tried bot Web kinda security on shared network as well as WPA2 still nothing.

Phone searchs for connection, then search suddenly dissappears.
When I manually enter the connection name and password, it starts searching, but this time search does not stop..

This is the situation so please help me if you have encountered this problem... This is my first time with a smartphone and really dont know what to do.. :/

Welcome to the forums!
Can you install "WiFi Analyzer" from Market and see the wireless network? Maybe the Wi-Fi uses different channels than enabled in the phone (go to "Settings / Wireless & Networks / Wi-Fi setings", then choose "Advanced" from Menu and try to enable all channels in "Regulatory domain").

Thanks a lot, but sir I have another problem. As I have not logged in to android market by my phone(couse of internet problem) I cant download the app... ^^ By the way, I went to a Caf

OK, I understand it now. You are trying to share LAN via computer's Wi-Fi (socalled ad-hoc), but this doesn't work on Android, it's not a standard connection and can be used just by Widows computers. If you have Windows 7, you can share the connection with Connectify, this should work :
Connectify for Windows - Turn your Laptop or Smartphone into a Secure Wi-Fi Hotspot
If the next problem is statis IP, it's easy. Under Settings / Wireless & networks / Wi-Fi settingspress menu again, go to Advanced and set the static IP address.
AFAIK it should be possible to setup Wi-Fi connection and login to Google on new Android versions.

Hi my galaxy mini have connection problem with most of wi fi open without protection
they found open and when i try with connect dont connect but just save the name of the spot, ene in my house with my computer with wireles router can't connect, any one can help me about?

I've galaxy mini in US. I've upgraded to 2.3.4. My experience is that Galaxy Mini can not handle WEP encryption for WIFI. I would be happy if someone can prove me wrong.

hi does your network require settings not available on your phone, if so you might need ACE advanced configuration editor, is your network hidden, do you need to manually add it before its seen?

My phone worked on wep prior to upgrading, i thought the router was at fault, im now running wep2 on a different router?

I am haveing the same type of problem with my 995. I have a wireless router at my house and am running computers, ipads, ipods, kindles, off the router fine. My 995 "sees" the wi-fi connection, but will not connect. It keeps trying to obtain the IP address, but is not successful. Any ideas?
