Need Help Picking TV Box PLEASE READ

Okay, so all I've ever owned are android phones and tablets. I'm looking to buy a basic TV box for emulator gaming and watching movies. I don't care about kodi one bit. What I want to know is there any software/updates/apps or anything I can do or download to make my experience more like my previous devices, or better for my non-streaming uses? I'd rather not root it if possible

You could see product of Zidoo or Rikomagic. they have very good Tv boxes
