Root Need help removing bloatware

Robodr0id

I've tried renaming and moving the .apks in system/apps with Root Explorer but they just keep reappearing! I'd rather not buy Titanium backup and freeze them. Is there a different way? Or how can I get the apks to stay renamed/moved? Thanks!

They shouldn't be reappearing. And you don't have to buy Titanium premium to remove bloat app. The regular titanium backup (free) should do the job.

Thanks for your reply. I know it can remove them by uninstalling them, but I'd rather just freeze/rename them so I can update to 2.2 if/when it comes out. I open up Root Explorer, go to /system/apps and rename something like "blockbuster.stuff.apk" to "...apk.bak" or something, then exit and it's still there. I've tried rebooting too, the Blockbuster/NFS/VZW stuff is still there. :/ Am I missing a step?

Can someone please help? I have tried deleting the .apk part and replacing it with .bak like a guide suggested but that didn't work either.

How about instead of just renaming them, make a backup copy of the apk file somewhere else (like your internal SD) and delete the apk file entirely?

Btw, you have tried restarting your phone right?

Yeah, I tried restarting after renaming them, they were still there. Just moved one to the SD card and deleted it from /system/app. Restarted, and it was still there :/
