Need help rooting Note 10.1

I recently tried to root my note 10.1
I followed a video on youtube and it seemed to work out just fine just after it rebooted, I found that I did not have the supersu app.
Did I not root it correctly?
My Note 10.1 model number is GT-N8000
Android version 4.1.1
Baseband version N8000XXBLJ9
Build number JRO03C.N8000XXBLJ9
I might have used the wrong file to root it but I'm not sure
I also could not update to jelly bean 4.1.2
Is it because it;s not supported?
I'm new to samsung products and android products
Help is appreciated!
