Root need help rooting

why do you want to root
most mt4g users would say the phone can stand on it's own
I have a rooted N1 for a year now, and only got into it has a hobby when recovering from open back surgery
the N1 at that time on eclair could gain things like 720p video by rooting
if you are not going to flash custom roms the dangers may outweigh the pros
I don't think you gain much with custom roms on a mt4g
just my 2cents
if you root, know you phone very well and read a lot on rooting and how to get out of bootloops and hanging X's
back up all you can before you root--including your sd card
there are some rooting threads here on pros/cons--may want to read them
