Need help shrinking png images

I'm always seeing people post pics on forums, but I can't seem to take screenshots that are small enough. How does a Linux user easily reduce the quality in favor of smaller size for pics? My default screenshot button takes rather large images that are too big.

Thanks in advance....

If you use something like imageshack.us there is often an option to resize or BB code to post a thumbnail.

Also you could try GIMP, but I dont know much about it.

Another vote for GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program here. Resizing and cropping pictures is easy.

I figured it out. Turns out all I really needed to do was save the image as a jpg file and the size was within bounds.

I just wanted to share my desktop with the world. I already posted it in the other thread, but here it is again :D
