Help Need help transferring app data between tablets using a PC

Hello.

I have a relative who has a Proscan 8 inch android tablet. It was working properly. She accidentally dropped it and there is now a small crack on the lower right side of the tablet. Now the touchscreen is unresponsive and the tablet cannot turn off, even when pressing the power button for a long time. It just won't turn off.

She got a Samsung Galaxy tablet, but wanted to save her apps from the Proscan app. She assumed that the Google Play server saved game and app progress from one tablet to another tablet. However, she has to start all over again from her google play apps when she reinstalled her apps.

My question is: How do I transfer android app data from the Proscan tablet to the Samsung tablet using a PC. I looked at all the Proscan tablet files and they are at around 5.34 GB total, but when I copy all the files to my desktop and put them in a folder, there is only about 156 MB total. I assumed that there were hidden files, like in an iPod, but I had "Show Hidden Files" checked on my PC. I can't find the location of the app data!

Please help me. Thanks.

The app data are stored in a protected area not accessible to a pc by normal means.

You could try Helium Backup to backup the old one and restore to the new one - but you're absolutely going to need to get some sort of input working on the old one. And the digitizer is broken.

Good news is that I've found another Proscan supports OTG USB - meaning - you get a cheap OTG USB cable, plug in your mouse, and configure what you need to go for the backup. (Can NOT connect to pc and mouse at the same time, so experimentation is required.)

No guarantees that will work on the Proscan 8 but it might, and it's your only shot.

Helium seems to work. I just used it to back up my apps on my Dell Venue tablet. But the touchscreen on the Proscan tablet that my relative uses is unresponsive, meaning that I can't install any apps, including Helium. I can't figure out how the keypad works on that tablet.

In terms of the OTG USB, could i also connect the Proscan tablet to the Samsung tablet and transfer files or app data? In other words, could I use the android apps with the mouse the same way with a touch of a finger or stylus?

I also had an iPod nano that I could search files through a PC. I thought I could easily do the same with an android tablet device.

The only Android-to-Android connections for control that I know of are Bluetooth or wifi keyboard/mouse apps - and those will require the Proscan to respond first to the setup.

The key would be to get the mouse working via OTG USB.

You're up against the security model - and Helium needs to get to settings to allow access at the Android debug bridge level. Otherwise, private data are private.

Sorry.
