Need Help w/my Calendar

I am new to the forums community but hoping you can help.

I have a Verizon LG Ally. I recently had to have it replaced because of a screen issue. When I had to reload everything backup assistant worked but I had forgotten the password to the gmail acct that I opened when I got the phone. So I created a new gmail account.

My problem is the default calendar app. I cannot add an event. I get a "you have no calendars" error message. When I open the app, hit the menu key, then go to more, then calendars there are none. There are none to choose from the attach or activate or sync - whatever. I also tried going to to the 3 calendar apps in settings, then applications, then manage applications and could not find a way to attach the calendar to any particular acct. It seemed so easy when it was set up initially - what am I missing??? :confused:

In order to set up events, the Gmail account must be set up properly. This must be done under the Gmail icon on the phone. It can't be done under E-mail or any other icons on the phone. Once the Gmail account is set up there, it integrates the calendar with the phone. You are trying to add new events on the new phone, right?

If this is for the new phone, and the above steps do not work, you may need to master reset the device if something is wrong with the calendar integration with the new phone. Here's a link for master reset instructions. If completed correctly, it will prompt you to enter the new Gmail account you just created onto the new phone.

If you are trying to export your calendar from your old Gmail calendar on the old phone to a new Gmail account you set up on the old phone, this cannot be done from the phone. It must be done by logging into Gmail.com or google.com/calendar from a PC and exported that way.
