Need Help With Boot Looped Phone

SepLite

Newbie
Hello all,
Just a few days ago, I decided to root one of my really old phones as the warranty expired and it could be put to good use if all the bloatware was removed. However, shortly after rooting, I tried to install another rom (for android 4.0) which resulted in an installation error, so I also wiped the /system folder in ClockworksMod. At this point my phone became stuck in a boot loop.

I still had the root-stock rom zip also on my phone, and since I could still boot into ClockworksMod, I thought that reflashing the root-stock would fix it. Reflashing root-stock proved to do nothing, and so I wiped the /data /dalvik /cahce (all the other wipe options in CWM) seeing as some people suggested that after a quick google. If I put my phone in download (odin) mode, Windows 8 does not recognize the device (even though the drivers are installed) and Odin cannot detect the device. As of yet, my phone is still stuck in a boot loop, can anyone else help me?

Thanks,
SepLite

Yes, I was able to copy the zip rom files from my computer to my phone before. Even in recovery mode, my computer detects the phone, only when it is in download mode it returns an error.

You could also use Kies 3 to flash back to stock. Select Tools in top bar, select Software Upgrade and Initialization. Input phone model and SN .Connect in download mode. Kies will download and flash current firmware.

Had a look at link. Odin Multi Downloader is something I haven't used. They had a link for download mode drivers if you haven't installed them.

I installed the download mode drivers (had to turn on windows 7 compatability for it to install), but it still said device not recognized after I installed it.

Have you tried another USB cable? Sorry to mention this, but sometimes it's the little things that cause issues. I've had brand new (oem and name brand) cables cause these symptoms. Just a thought...

Yes, I have tried two cables, since I only own two. One of the cables is the cable that came with the Nexus 4, and the other is a third party cable I bought in a bookstore. Unfortunately, my phone did not come with a USB cable (just a charger cable), so I can't use that (which would definitely connect for sure).

Worst come to worst, is it possible to recover without connecting my phone to the computer? Like I said, I can boot into ClockworkMod perfectly fine, but reflashing did not fix the bootloop.

Read a few threads here and on XDA regarding device not recognized. Some recommend if you have Kies installed to use the option in tools to reinstall drivers. Others recommend uninstalling Kies, Odin and all Samsung drivers from pc then do a fresh install of Kies.

When you choose install zip in Cwm is there a sideload option?

No, there is not a sideload option, just a list of files and folders in the root directory and after selecting one of them, a prompt whether to continue the install or not.

Kies 2.6 (Kies 3 does not support my model) is just stuck on connecting while my phone is in recovery mode. In the bootloop it reconnects infinitely. The trouble shooting connection error doesn't seem to be doing anything either...

Ok when you're in the recovery and type , adb devices does it show anything in cmd?
If not does it show in device manager? I'm going to think this one through. I have a Sprint Note Edge i have to work on at the moment.

Aha! Typing adb devices in command prompt says 'adb is not a recognized command.' I can do that in linux for sure, but that's a different environment.

Try downloading Mobogenie for PC and see if the device will show in download mode. Also are you using a desktop or laptop?
