Help Need help with HTC Hero - USB connection type

My car was vandalized and EVO was stolen. Just bought new (used) HTC Hero and can't synch using companionlink. Can anyone tell me how I can set the usb connection to charge only? Under settings all I can see is "data synchronization". I'm sure I'm missing something or looking in the wrong place. I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Thread moved to the troubleshooting section. I have not really used CompanionLink, but I see what it does after a quick Google search.

I guess you want to sync stuff on your PC to your Sprint HTC Hero? Well, the stuff that was synced before should at least sync back to your handset, until you can figure out how to set up CompanionLink.
