Need help with K-9 email

I did the search before this, so please excuse if I missed a similar problem. I downloaded K-9 two days ago to my Droid X2 as I was interested in using Google Cloud printing. By and large it is working, but my Gmail account shows a star with the number two in it. My Google web page says I have no starred mail. Is there a way to get that cleared?

More troubling is that my ISP provides a Gmail based account. I have read all messages in that account and marked them as read but K-9 keeps fetching posts from May, June, and July - just a few posts - and displays them as unread. I have supposedly configured K-9 not to fetch beyond one month. I keep reading these posts as they come up, and they go away for a little, but come back after every poll.

The developer's website is way over my head. I'm a fairly casual user and have not debugged anything before. Any help in resolving these issues would be appreciated.

I was noticing it was the same messages that kept popping up as new. I went through them on the desktop and forwarded those I wished to keep to another account, and deleted them all. Most had attachments, some did not. Hopefully that will end that problem.

Meanwhile, K-9 keeps showing two starred messages in Gmail, which the website assures me are not there...

OK, got rid of the stars by telling it to get all folders. When it checked Starred folder away it went. Had to change it back to First Class afterwards to avoid getting spam.

Meanwhile, I'm noticing that my ISP-provided Gmail account is not getting all messages, even though there are only four folders and all are enabled. I'll be trying to figure that one out.

Guess I'm talking to myself, but I hope it helps other newbies to K-9 with its daunting interface and unpredictable results.

Latest bewilderment: The notification default ringtone (sounds like a chirp) keeps turning itself on. I have asked it to be silent five times, and it keeps returning. Yahoo mail account.

I know I'm talking to myself, but someday someone else might have similar problems and perhaps this self-thread will help. I guess there are few K-9 users on this forum.
