Need help with my HTC Wildfire storage space

I have a new HTC Wilfire phone and I love it, but i can't add any apps, it always says my storage space is low, I find this so frustating as I have bought a 16 GB storage card. I can't seem to get anything to go on to the card, not even my pics as I feel that would clean up some space for me. Please help me Understand all this,
