Help need help with next lock screen.

Newbie
Does not work on Blu 5.0 Advance. I tried all the settings. I only got it to work once, but then I had to put in my pin in a different screen, on the default one.

If I try to use the camera from the lock screen, it will switch back to the default launcher that came with this.

So I can I replace the default with Next lock screen?

You should be able to, but this is a security concern also. Just go into your settings and depending on your device, there should be Lock Screen setting in Security. Put in your combo and when asked, say None for your lockscreen.

That doesn't work.
Next lock screen, is a different lock screen. I'm replacing it with a different lock screen. That has option lock unlocking security.
So it is not a security concern.

Is there options for your lock screen? What are they?

Im just saying because if you boot to safe mode in android, theres the problem where that app is now disabled until reboot. Then everything is exposed.

I had to take off the original pin and set that to none.
One the next lock screen, had to set the pin on there.
But next lock screen only requires a pin if I open the app and have it running before I shut it.

Then Android might be prioritizing apps or something is crashing within. I would say maybe use logcat?
I wanted to just try out Android. The thing I like about it, are some of the widgets. Like the weather, google keep. Being that keep is on the home screen, I would see my todo list or notes everytime I use the phone.

What I don’t like. Apps are not uniform. Some are circle, some are squared.

I thought I would like horizontal scroll. I much prefer vertical scroll.

The few apps I downloaded, no big deal. Apps that I use are all available for Microsoft. So apps to me aren’t a big deal. But I installed my bank app(capital one). The other thing that offers that their web app(which is perfectly fine on Windows Phone), is deposit by check.

One major thing I hate, notifications doesn’t work. I tried everything.

The setting menu is a mess. There’s like 5 different menus to get to permissions. Apps have their own notification settings, there’s also another notification menu. You set up permissions inside whatever app. You also have them inside the settings menu. And there aren’t all in one place.

I try to turn on one notification for outlook. I have to go to app notification, it gives me 4 options(block all, treat as priority, allow peeking, hide sensitive content), so I have it set to allowing peeking. I think that’s it, it will then show notifications. But no. I have to hit on the !. For more options. If I go to notification, it gives me the same as before.

Who to say that I won’t get voicemail or missed texts notifications if I put a sim in it.

In Windows Phone, I just go to notifications and action. Just 1 menu to turn on or off notifications. And it’s only one tap to get to the permissions menu.

I use a 4 digital pin on Windows Phone. So after I put in the pin, it logs me right in.

On Android, after I put in the pin, I have to hit the check mark to finish it(like an enter key).

Also Android apps hamburger menu, is the same thing as if you swipe from the edge of the left screen(a la Windows RT).

This is getting returned.

For me, Window Phones just works. Android seems complicated to set up. Settings and permissions are all over the place.

I like On Window Phone, the all app are alphabetical.

I tried arrow launcher, it was slow on this phone.

I also tried next lock screen. It did not want to work without me opening the app before I locked the phone. Otherwise, it won’t ask for a pin. Took me like 30 mins. to find out why I was putting in the pin it next lock screen, the also the regular lock screen.

Android is just too much tweaking that’s required to make it behave the way I want it too.

There are other launchers like GO EX or Nova that might help too. All launchers as far as I know have the ability to change sorting into alphabetical. Even GO EX you can choose from vertical and horizontal.

It's not just the launcher. It's the settings, they have the settings all over the place, they aren't organized. It's also the notification.

You're just resisting change that's all. Personally I find the notification settings pretty logical. It's more similar to a Windows PC than Windows phone actually. The notifications in the settings menu only controls the notifications for systems. It doesn't control app notifications.

As for notifications, what exactly is the problem. It would help if you give details.

How is that logical? The notifications in the settings menu should control all the notifications even for apps.

The problem is I am not getting any notifications for email.
I don't have a sim in here yet, I wanted test it out first.
So if email notifications doesn't work. Then I will be concerned about texts, voicemail's, missed calls.

It's logical in the sense that the controls for the app is in the app itself. Kind of how like in Windows PC, each program has its own settings inside them, not in Windows Control Panel. So it's logical for anyone who's worked on PC before. Notice how MS Word has its own settings and preferences menus, separate from Adobe? This is mainly because Android is a PC OS (Linux) modified for mobile use. Hence certain behaviors reflect that.

As for notifications, is your email set to push? Is it actually syncing your emails or have you inadvertently set it to not sync immediately? Also if you are on power saver mode, that turns off internet connectivity when screen is off (to save power), so you won't get emails if you have that on.

I wouldn't worry about notifications for text or calls. You'd imagine if those were problematic then no one would use Android. That's millions of missed calls a day if it can't work properly.

I will point out however that not all Android phones are created equal. Some manufacturers edit Android to their own liking, which may cause differing behaviours. I use Samsung devices, so I know how to work them. Your Blu branded device may have quirks unique to that brand, as each brand tries to differentiate itself.

I know apps have their own settings.
I'm not talking about all settings. I'm only talking about permissions and notifications settings. Those should be all in one place.
If you used Windows 10, permissions and notifications settings are in one place.

The emails sync, but I get no notifications.
I'm not using a third party email. I'm using outlook and gmail.
I only have power saving automatically go one when the battery get to 15 or 20%.
But if I'm not getting getting any notifications now, I would worry about not getting them for missed call and texts.

Another this. I went to check the battery optimization.
I was searching in battery setting. You would think it would be there.
But no. I had to go to apps. Tap on the gear in that menu to bring up the battery optimization.
Which is off.
I don't know why, but I started getting notifications about an hour ago. And I didn't change any setting.

It may be the phone itself. Sometimes I have to tap a couple times to get the screen to register.

Your phone seems weird. On my S7, all permission settings are in one place: Settings>Applications>Application Manager. Under every app entry, is the permission settings for those apps. As well as system notification settings.
As for battery optimisation, mine is under battery settings. Settings>Battery>Scroll down to 'app power saving' then select the detail button.
Again, I wouldn't really worry about another app's notifications if one doesn't work. Each app handles notifications separately. If you want to have them all in one place, you can download a notification manager.

I do not want to deep downloading stuff for something that is supposed to work out of the box.
Your S7, isn't the 7.0? The Blu is 6.0.
I don't have a Application Manager setting.
On here, I go to settings, under device, I tap app. In that I have the permissions.
But under notifications, it just says, block all, treat as priority, allow peaking and hide sensitive content.
Those are the only 4 notification options I have.

My battery setting only shows, standby intelligent power and battery percentage. Uner that it shows used sinch last full charge and approx % of battery runtime.

Then I just found the other 2, for battery saver and battery optimization. But I had to tap on those 3 vertical dots.
But everything should be all on 1 page.
That's what I mean it's a mess.
Android may be fully customization, but I don't find everything user friendly and intuitive.

I think whay you're seeing is the changes Blu made on Android, and not reflective of all Androids. Yes my S7 is still on 6.0, as the beta program is not officially available in my country.
