Help need help with samsung mesmorize

Hi everyone I am new to the androids and new to forums so bare with me lol...I bought a samsun mesmorize and i had assigned some ringers for certain contacts now when i look the ringers are assigned to the wrong contacts and when i go into contact and hit edit it will not let me select the ring tone to change or even remove it. I read somewhere that to assign a ringtone to certain contact to go into music player touch and hold the ringtone until menu pops up, i select set as then caller ringtone and then the only contact that shows is customer support..i have tried everything i can think of and am really getting frustrated with it already. If anyone can help I would much appreciate it. Thanks in advance

It sounds like all of your contacts are Google Contacts, tied to your gmail account you registered with your phone.

In order to assign ring tones to specific contacts, you have to have your contacts loaded as "phone contacts".

There are several threads on here that talk about how to convert contacts to your phone.

One easy way is to go to your contacts app, hit the menu button, then "more". Click "Import/Export" and choose Export to SD card. Copy the contacts to your SD card. Repeat these steps, and choose "import from SD card" when you get to that step. Import them as phone contacts and you're all set. Note: This will convert all of your contacts to phone contacts. If you only want a few of them like this, then you may want to just convert each one individually.
