Need help with saving contacts from phone to new gmail...

A friend of mine bought a MyTouch G1 that already had a gmail attached to it. He, not knowing much about android just continued to use the phone and save any new contacts to his phone. Fortunately, the previous owner didn't select "sync contacts" when setting up his gmail so all my friend's contacts are saved to his phone, and not to the previous owner's gmail.

My friend wants to do a master reset so he can add his gmail and google voice acct. The question is, we want to know how can we get the contacts to his gmail from the phone without having to manually enter each one?

I think I found the resolution...

One workaround would be to export all your contacts now to the sd card (Make sure what you exported contains all your contacts). Then delete all your current contacts in the phone list. Finally, import back the exported contacts and make sure to choose google account category. After that, you can sync it to your google account online.

Okay, he said when he opens up the contacts app and hits menu, there is no option to export all contacts to sdcard. Must he do it one by one or is there an option somewhere on the phone that allows him to do this all in one?
