Need help with SuperUser app.

I've downloaded SuperUser, Titanium Backup, BusyBox, and MyBackup since rooting my phone but can't figure out how to give TB & MyBackup superuser privileges.

I read, on another forum, that once your rooted and you try to open an up like TB it will ask for SU privileges but that's not happening. I just get a msg saying:

"Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again. This attempt was made using the "su" command."

If your supposed to go into SuperUser and add apps manually I can't figure out how. There are no "add app" or similar buttons.

What am I missing here??

I've uninstalled and reinstalled both TB & SU but the problem persists.
I also emailed the developer but have not received a reply yet.

It should offer automatically when App needs su access. Go into su setting and click on su. Binaries and see it if updates. Then see if tb is listed in the App list. It can be slow to come up at times. Remove it. If it is, reboot then try again and wait a few seconds for it to ask then hopefully click allows if you see the dialogue. Also try another root App like fasterfix to see if it's App related or not.

I'm not sure you can just install Superuser like a normal application- does it have to go in the system partition? I've always flashed it in a zip file from recovery. Once that's done the other apps just ask for permission.

When I go to update the binary it's fails.

"Checking current install path...fail!"
"Failed to find currently installed su binary.Update cannot continue."

I downloaded fasterfix but it says "You don't have root access, this action requires root access"

I didn't know that. Maybe that's the issue. In the Market it doesn't say you have to install it that way. Big omission if that's the case.

Perhaps your root is incomplete. Download root checker from store and see what it says.

Root checker says "Sorry this device does not have proper root access"

So now I'm thoroughly confused.

ocnbrze's Rooting Guide says the following:

"here is an overview of the process:
1.go to HTCdev and follow directions to get your bootloader unlocked
2.install custom recovery
3.flash the su file or you can flash a rom of your choice"

I've done the first two but am now confused because I was told to accomplish the rest of what I want to do in the following order:

"Download tb and backup
Make a nabdroid backup
Backup sd card
Partition
Flash rom"

Doesn't that conflict with ocnbrze's guide in that if I'm supposed to flash the su file before I can run TB then the order I was told to complete the steps is wrong?

I'm not very familiar with HTC root but maybe you only have shell root of some kind and not full access. I'd ask in your handset specific forum as you'll get actual experience of the issues there.

I did. Thanks for your help Logan. One way or another I'll get this resolved.

I have found a temp fix for this problem!

- first go into super user click settings top right hand side and click "automatic response".

- then choose "allow" instead of "Prompt" this allows all root requests to be allowed root access.

be careful as any program now free access to root without any prompt or security!

I would love to know if anyone has properly added the app to superuser tho someone must have come up with sum thing

Thanks
Marty
