Help Need Help With Tablet

Still sort of new to the whole world of Android and with my Samsung Tablet 7 I am curious if there is a way to keep the screen on? Will it stay on if it is plugged into a power source? I have noticed in the settings that it will only stay on for a said amount of time (1hr). If not do I have to root it to get an option like this? Really I just want the screen to stay on when it is connected to a power source!!
 
There is no option to keep the screen on, even if you root the device. The only way to keep the screen on, is to have screen activity going on, such as movies playing etc.
