Root Need help with tethering.

I recently bought a T-Mobile s5 and I'm using it on Metropcs. Metro recently added 5gb of tethering to all plans with data but I can't get it working. The phone is completely stock and on 5.1.1, tethering worked just fine on my previous phone (moto x). Is there anything I can do to get past the stupid entitlement check? What is my best option to get it working.

Thanks guys.

Verizon has that same "privilege check", I can't advise you how to get around it though.
My plan includes the feature, so no problem other than the delay while it goes thru the motions to see if my phone has privileges for that service.

You might give FoxFi a shot until you get the other worked out.
It works with Verizon stuff that does not have tethering privileges.

have you just tried turning on the Mobile Hotspot instead of doing the tethering? that is located under "More Networks"

The hotspot isn't listed under more networks on this phone. My plan allows tethering. I think the problem is that it's a T-Mobile phone on Metropcs service, but it still tries to check with T-Mobile.

I'm looking for the best way to disable that check. For some reason they removed the hotspot from "More Networks".
