Root Need help with unrooting V7

Hi All,

New to posting but have done a TON of reading here.

I rooted my LG Spectrum about a year and a half ago in order to use wifi tether. The phone has started doing some goofy things lately (randomly restarting, application icon text labels turn into squares, etc.). It seems like something is going corrupt. I just want to unroot and take the phone back to stock factory default and then start over from scratch. I have searched the web for about three hours this morning and can't seem to find a guide to do this given the version of software on my phone. I have v7 and all unrooting guides are for v4 or v6 and have warnings against using the guide on a v7 phone.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? I was thinking of doing the factory reset, but given that the phone is rooted I'm afraid of the outcome.

Unfortunately it's been so long ago that I don't recall the method I used to root the device. However, I am able to confirm root access with Root Checker Basic.

Here are my phone's software versions:
Android: 4.0.4
Kernel: 3.0.8-perf
Build number: IMM76D
Software version: VS920ZV7
phone model: VS920

Thanks, everyone!!

Personally, if you want "back to stock", I'd do a factory reset (from within Settings) and then a full "Upgrade Recovery" from the LG Support Tool. That'll put you back to 100% stock (unrooted) V9.

If you change your mind again later, the root and "pwnage" tools still work on V9.

Thanks! Is this the LG Support Tool?LG VS920 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA

Also, a bit off topic, but is it true that there are apps now that allow you to wifi tether without root? The built-in tether app is not an options because of my plan.

None that I've seen. I've seen USB tether without root, but wifi almost always need root to set certain system settings, or at a bare minimum, you need to have an edited file on /system/app, which would require root permission.
