Need help with using Tasker

minipro

Lurker
I own a Xperia Mini Pro. Have installed the latest version of tasker app. I need tasker to perform the following tasks;

1) Turn data transfer off when screen is off(locked)
2) Disable data transfer when certain selected apps are opened.

But I'm not able to figure out how to configure Tasker to perform these tasks :confused: ..
Plz help..

Here's what you need:

Profile: Data on/off
Context: Variable Value %SCREEN matches on
Context: Application Not [App1 or App2 or App3...]
Enter Task:
Mobile Data On (your device may require you to use Mobile Data APN instead)
Exit Task:
Mobile Data Off

@UncleMike Thanks for your reply. I've configured it as you had said,

when I run the tasks seperately it switches data on/off..

But I'm not able to activate the profile.. As shown in the attachment, there was a tick at 1, I've clicked it, and 2 is on.. what might be the problem :confused: ??

As shown, the profile is disabled. Tap the icon at "1" to enable the profile (it will change to a green check mark). When the profile is active, the name of the profile will turn green.

@UncleMike It's working.. Thank you :)

Now can I exclude certain apps? Like Facebook messenger should have data transfer access even when the screen is locked

If you want Facebook to have data access when other apps do not, you can't do that with Tasker. Tasker can enable or disable data based on certain conditions, but the change affects all apps. I don't think there's a way to limit access on a per-app basis without being rooted.
