Just bought a Yoobao YB-642 External Battery 11000mAh to charge the A500. Tried to use the USB ports but so far no response, judging by the lack of "lightning" on the tab's indicator.
The A500 only charges through the charge port. The USB ports are STRICTLY for data connections (well, my TB will charge off the USB host port). In fact, the OP is lucky the tab didn't cook from trying to push volage through the wrong port.
