i bought my new samsung note last night and so far no issues. but when i receive a text message my screen turns on then shut off few sec later. how do i disable? i dont want my screen to turn on every time i get a text..i have tried things but i cannot seem figure this out. can anyone help please
 
I don't actually think it's possible with the standard messaging application. I can't find an option for it. I use GoSMS and I've just checked the notification options and you can switch that option off.

Just out of interest why would you want to disable it? You'd still have to turn the screen on at some point to find out who the message was from wouldn't you? That's the point of the screen coming on briefly, to show you the message.
 
i would rather it chime like it does with a notification light not pop on my screen constantly. i had a droid razr that had icecream sandwich and it just chimed and the led would come on... hope this make sense
