Need long life device to replace my Wikireader

I've been using wikireader for a long time in remote places with no internet. It has helped many
times in Africa.

Sadly now there is no more support, so I need a device that can run offline wikipedia and
has very long battery life or ability to use alkaline cell batteries.

Any suggestions?

Do you mean the Offline wikipedia app from the Store?

Wikireader is a stand alone touchscreen device that is only an offline wikipedia / encyclopedia.

It's basically an ebook with touch screen that has an incredibly long battery life.

I recently installed and downloaded the whole wiki database (15gb, without photos) to my smartphone, it runs smoothly on a device with 2gb RAM and octa-cores CPU. Maybe you should just buy a cheap smartphone with HD screen to use as Wiki reader? Some brand like Cubot makes cheap phones with a huge battery, eg. the Cubot Note S costs less than $100 with 5.5in screen and a 4,000mAh battery, it can last a whole day as reader.
