My battery is lasting about a 1/4 of what it should and I checked my battery status and out says discharging. Wtf!!!

Well the 2 biggest things would be Screen and Radio. Set your Screen brightness to 30% and LEAVE it (no Auto). use Wi-Fi as much as possible.

I had an app (Cardio Trainer) that checked for my location once per minute while I did my exercise routine. If I used this app while I was exercising in an area with poor Verizon data service, the app drew a lot more from the battery every time it tried to "refresh." (I used up 1/4 of my battery in one hour.) I have removed the app from my phone and now my can go two days on a charge.

You probably have an app (or two) that is over using your GPS or data radios (Weather that updates frequently, etc.) You need to find that app and get rid of it or change the refresh to less frequent (once per hour).

Welcome to the android forums.. is your device on ics 211? If so, its a big battery killer... I side loaded 215 and its a lot better.

Also, are you using smart actions battery extender? If not, I would try it if I were you. I have it set up so it stops background data sync when the screen goes off and its not charging.

Another thing to consider is this. . 4g.. if you're using 4g, you're powering your 3g & 4g radios. Though it is faster, 4g is a battery hog.. and the worse your signal, the more battery it eats... think of it like throwing a rock. The farther you have to keep throwing the rock(signal) the more energy you use. And it takes more energy to get the signal back too.

Go into settings, more, mobile networks, put it on lte/CDMA.. global seems to killed more battery.

Hope this helps.
