Need Some Carrier Advice.

Hello.

Considering myself to be a man of technology, sitting here looking at my old LG Rumor is simply pathetic. Being a long-time Sprint customer, I always thought I was quite satisfied. When they introduced the "$10/mo for smartphone" thing, I figured I could just live without one. Now I can't. Time for an upgrade.

My current plan is ~ $45 a month. Limited minutes, but unlimited texts and data (which, with this phones radio isn't all that fast). I don't travel much outside of Connecticut.

My wants/needs are unlimited data. I'd like to stream it to other WiFi devices. Heavy usage.

At this point, almost anything would be a gigantic upgrade. The best options I have seen so far would be a better sprint plan (for $70/mo, and they won't give you any issues about data usage), or a MetroPCS plan (for $60/mo, same thing). I'd love to talk about which phones to grab, but I feel the better way to start is at least figure out a carrier first.

After all the reading I've done, I feel like I'm starting to take a step backwards on my quest. I keep reading about people finding discounts, or retention rewards, and I have no idea at this point what the best route is. I'm looking forward to someone setting me straight here.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the quick response.

From what I see, most of my travel areas / where I live has a decent coverage, but not LTE speeds. Guess it's out of my control, but 3G would still be an upgrade over what I have now.

My biggest worry is the price/performance. Need some value for my dollar!

Might want to ask around and see if the 3g is as good for one carrier as another in your area, as well.

Want to get good service for that buck too. :)

T-Mobile seems to have a decent amount of 3G coverage in your area. It's $70/month like Sprint - but for their simple choice plan, you have to pay for your phone a little bit each month. (Top-end phones is about $20/month for 20 months).
That would be $90/month compared to Sprint's $80/month (they have a $10 "premium" data fee) but I'm sure T-Mobile's 3G speeds are better than Sprint's.

I just heard T-Mobile has a level of faster 3G speeds (either they are still funding the infrastructure or some frequency thing I'm not aware of), after reading what you wrote. I also read Sprint is planning a lot of 4G upgrades in the Northeast (but keeps getting delayed).

Appreciate the response. So much information!
