Need some help deciding.

OK my primary use for my phones are these. Text, email ,social media, internet, occasional YouTube and my Widgets. My dilemma is this. I now have a Nexus S on att edge. Most of the time on wifi but sometimes when the wifi transition happens I loose data other than that the phone is great and has gingerbread and will get the updates first. So for these purposes this phone is great, Although I would like to have the 3G. So I am deciding on either keeping the nexus edge and all or upgrading to either the HTC inspire or Atrix. Now most people are lauding the Atrix but I also love the HTC its sense and the new sense.com so for my purposes what would you guys do in my shoes

if you have an upgrade avaliable, then i would go for the atrix. if you dont have an upgrade, i would keep the nexus s.

TBH I completely understand how crappy edge is.. I have a neon and its epic fail.

Screws me up receiving a video message.

Htc is known for some very solid phones.

Even if the HTC doesn't get many offical updates.. I can see it getting some serious dev support.

TBH I dunno if you want a 4.3" screen.. 4" seems fine or 4.3" to me but, a lot of people are pickier..

I have settled on a 4" sAMOLED

I Love my friends EVO's screen its too sweet so thats another plus and yes the sAmoled would be sweet but you cant have everything

Bought it out right so I will be exchanging it. So your saying atrix even if I probably won't use any of the potential

Better to have more than you need than to get a phone that potentially has limitations. Not to mention it is the brand new hottness and you could always sell it.

lol..

well 4" sAMOLED is enough for me.

Although I must admit the EVO has an amazing screen. When displaying web pages I must admit its a very comfortable mobile experience.

I like not having to squint to the point my eyes go bad.

That said.. maybe we are all getting a little to into the phones XD.

None of them have released yet.. and they should be out soon.

However, at the end of the day. I am wondering what else at&t has up its sleeves..

a supposed 20 android devices is a real fast 0-60 for at&t.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Although Today at 5 I got a call saying they got a captivate in at the at&t store while watching a movie with my girlfriend.

So first thing in the morning, I'm picking up my new captivate a month and a half before I am suppose to have an upgrade.

They didn't try to charge me last time.. So I am really hoping they won't try to stick a 200$ early upgrade fee on me this time. >.<;

Me personally, the Inspire is what I want. Worst thing happens, I can sell it to some idiot for somewhere between the price I bought it for and the non-contract price, and get another phone off contract for about the price I'd pay for a new upgrade.

It's why I will be keeping my iphone as a backup/music player. :)

my gf also put a vote in for the inspire saying how it seems more usable because I probably wouldnt purchase the other docks and how sense seems very usable

4.3" is a pretty good size. I would say its a pretty safe bet.

I doubt you'd be disappointed with HTC.

While atrix has a chance of turning out great.. HTC seems like a pretty safe bet.

Thats also part of why Im leaning to HTc I have had recent HTC's havent had a motorola since the RZR so i know what I'm getting out of the HTC plus I have used the Desire and the EVO and they are both beloved phones

I wanted an htc for quite a while.

They missed that ship though.

Oh well.

Yep, I love Sense and big screens, and that's a huge reason why I want the Inspire, but beyond that... I just don't see the need for the Atrix's extra features. Like I said, they are at a glance cool and interesting, but after I think about it... they seem kind of gimmicky and unnecessary, especially when you look at how clunky they handled while docked.

I'm "Inspire"d until proven otherwise by the Atrix.

Your echoing my sentiments exactly when I think about everyday use I just dont see any of the other things that come with the atrix as things i would use. so it would come down to phone versus phone and which would add more simplicity/usefullness to my life

What I find interesting is how they are going to market these dock and webtop devices. Both are sort of cool, but they aren't more useful than a tablet, laptop or desktop.

To me, it's moto trying to find something they can throw up against HTC's Sense since Motoblur can not compare from a UI standpoint. If they can't get the "in hand experience" to compete, try to beat HTC somewhere they haven't tried yet.

That's my guess at least, seems logical.

well blur will not catch up to sense anytime soon. I am guessing they will say for the cost of both docks you will get the functionality of a tablet but with half the cost and only when you want it

You have good points, but I'm afraid you won't be happy with the inspire in 6 months. You have a 1 ghz processor. (same as the evo) and you have a large screen with a 1340MaH battery that won't get you through the day. Plus that 1 ghz processor probably won't be high spec enough to run honeycomb or ice cream. At the end of the day its your choice. You will definitely get more usage out of the atrix.

There's no way Ice Cream is going to be out in less than 1 year and 6 months (average upgrade time) and the Inspire isn't the Evo, it's the Desire HD. Honeycomb wont need to be dual core so I don't know where you get the specs point.

It's great to say that a phone has specs to last, but who cares if it's UI sucks and it's biggest selling points are not practical?

I think you're selling the Inspire short here.

will correct you on two things one the evo has the old 1GHz snapdragon this is the next gen and two google said there are no minimum requirements for the phone version of honeycomb. Also I have an actual upgrade in the fall so even if i get the inspire now i can upgrade to something on full LTE 6 months later

Chapp1e raises a pretty good point.

As psyched as everyone is over the atrix..

Its still an entirely new ball game.

Just because a product has top notch specs doesn't mean it won't bomb hard...

I have tried to keep a more positive tone on the subject but, webtop is still brand new.

Blur doesn't look bad on it from what I can see.. but, at the end of the day you still have to face the fact that right now.. the only reason any phone should be bought from a hardware spec.. is the phone that has the best hardware coupled with the most solid dev support.

If your not looking at dev support.. perhaps you should not even worry about hardware outside of screen size and build quality.

I think right now the HTC has the lead unless it comes out at the end of Q1 which i think the samsung will hold that honor. The only thing that would make the ATrix take the lead is if it came out first and it was easier for me to switch out of the nexus

True, I find time to be a critical factor myself.

I'm not to patient >.>;

Yea i mean if the atrix comes out end of this month or first week of feb im jumping on it then if i happen to dislike I will exchange for the Inspire in march or if the scenario is flipped then the same sequence of events will unfold

Sounds like a plan to me.

I am getting captivate tomorrow (hopefully).

If I'm happy with it I'll keep it.

If not something will be out I can test drive.

From what I can tell I'll be happy though. Whatever I get is gunna end up rooted as soon as I get home anyway.

If I had the 2 gig plan it would be rooted before I left store
