Help Need to back up my contacts and texts

Hi, I am not too technical so I don't know how to do it.
I am sending my phone for a repair tomorrow, I've been advised to back up my data. How do I do it so I can restore it when I get the phone back?

Your contacts should be synched to your gmail account so all you need to do is sign in.

I use MyBackup to backup texts, the free version works for 30 days

I use google for my contacts - all hail the cloud
And I use smsbackup+ to back my sms up to google - all hail the cloud
SMSbackup+ is nice because it automatically backs up when txt arrive and is free.

That's the same as me. Good thing by backing up your sms this way is that they are also searchable - like emails

Oh really? That sounds really good.

I used to back up with wavesecure, but restore always restored everything backed up, so if I did that now, it would restore litereally thousands of texts.

Edit> Just installed. Looks good. Nice label set up for SMS. Backup and never really need to restore as they're always in gmail.
