Help Need to BACKUP a S2 that cannot connect to KIES

Hello everybody,
this is my first post on this forum so I'll begin by thanking everyone for your future help =)

My Samsung Galaxy s2 got frozen a couple of times while I was using it, it kept messing up and after I took the battery out, now it doesn't let me pass the sim unlock screen. Whenever I confirm the code it just freezes and it stays there forever.

I managed to put it in recovery mode, however before to restore factory conditions I'd really like to backup some data from the internal memory.

It doesn't connect to KIES so I am looking for an alternative method to backup my data.
The phone is not rooted.

Thank you in advance for your help =)

Never say never. As you can boot into recovery you might be able to do it by installing CWM custom recovery via Odin.

You can then mount the internal sd and use ADB on you PC to copy the files or (maybe) do a Nandroid backup to the external SD and extract the files from that.

This thread will help with installing CWM while this thread may give you some pointers on ADB as the guy is trying trying to do a similar thing with a Nexus.

I'm no expert so do some more research. It might be worth posted in the question (or getting a mod to move it) to All Things Root as while you're not rooted the guys in there know all about CWM and ADB.

ps. if this works you'd then need to reinstall stock firmware via Odin if you wanted to return to stock (or join us on the dark side and install a custom rom :D)
