Is the G4 easily rooted?

I can't say whether it's easy because I didn't root my G4 but I've read that it's totally possible.

What's your main reason to have your G4 rooted?

just to do it I quess. make it as fast as possible and use apps that require it I guess. Do I need it?

Welcome to the Android Forums Michael Lopez. Depends on what you want to do with it? Do you need to root, Id say no but anyway here's a link to the LG G4 rooting section here that should help you make up your mind.

Which variant of the G4 do you have? The H815 and Tmobile H811 are easily rootable thanks to the unlockable bootloader, the other variants can only be rooted on Lollipop.

^^ this. H815 and H811 only for the time being. Although there is a promising looking post over on XDA where someone claims to be writing up a tut for relocking the bootloaders and from that he claims he has an unofficial unlock he has found too. Waiting for more news on this though yet, may be another hoax but looks quite promising.
