Just use the unlock app that comes installed on the phone when you buy it from MetroPCS (it's free). I unlocked my Z981 this way and use it with other carriers. I'm in the caribbean right now and using it with a gsm carrier called Claro that's owned by Verizon.

In order to receive a network unlock code for your ZTE BLADE you need to provide IMEI number (15 digits unique number). It can be found by dialing *#06# as a phone number, as well as by checking in the phone settings of your device.
