Alright, try to make a long story short. I have a Droid X (running like a champ still) but I am really wanting to upgrade. Wasn't really interested in the RAZR because cosmetically it is very similar to my phone and still only running Gingerbread. However, I can get the RAZR for $49 on verizon (I have a $50 upgrade credit and it is available for $99 right now) this is tempting to me. Honestly it's not about money because I am considering buying a phone w/o the contract price just to keep me happy til later this year when all the new devices start to drop. And save my renewal pricing for that.

My question IF you could do it all over again would you buy it? I'm not going to pay $249 for a MAXX right now either. Seems silly for a just for a bigger battery that should have been in it in the first place. If you were in my shoes would you just keep the DX and wait for the Fighter/MAXX HD, Samsung GS3, iphone 5?? Just want some opinions!

PS...my home is not a 4G market but my work is.

I would wait for the next Razr with HD screen and potential S4 SoC. The S4 looks like all we are going to get for a bit until the other SoC's start playing nice with the new LTE chip sets. Maybe will will get lucky and get a Razr Maxx HD with OMAP 5. Either way I would wait for a bit to see what's on the way. I would stay away from the GS3, its more typical Samsung junk.

50 for a razr is a great deal. its an upgade in every way. better display, faster internet, faster processor, better display, thinner, lighter and there are very stable ICS leaks out for the razr.

Agree but is it worth it? It is clearly an upgrade but in ALOT of ways it is like my DX. I life the phone but I don't know if I will like it for the next 2 years.

I would say yes for a couple of reasons.
It's a dual core LTE device also ICS upgradeable. Will there be better phones with better hardware released in the coming months, of course but the razr will still be able to do anything you need it to in two years. I don't see it not being able to handle whatever is thrown at it. Even two years from now.

And the battery life? I am a moderate user, listen to music 4-6 hours a day, text, twitter, email, alot of web surfing, and occasional game. Can I take it off charge at 6 am and not have to worry about it til 10pm?

I'm in the same boat as you. My X is still great (especially with ICS), but I want a new toy. While I was toy shopping just now I came across this thread and a rumor that the Razr MAXX will be dropping $100 tomorrow to $199 (just google "Razr MAXX", you'll find it). Just something to consider if you're worried about battery life. Thought I'd pass it on.

Wow thanks for sharing that was the news i was waiting for. This doesn't make my decision any easier now tho!! Honestly the RAZR MAXX's battery does appeal to me it it just so similar to a DROIDX from a cosmetic point of view. Part of me wants to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S3. But ithe the MAXX drops to $199 that temptation will be difficult to resist.
