after having an unlimited data plan for several years, i was deemed the top 5% in the pac (pacific region) @ 3 gb, and since i hit 3 gb in january a week before the end of the month (my bill cycle is the 1st to the 28th).
i have no way to confirm independently if i am in the top 5%, nor do i believe at&t. my opinion is it is a way to kill off the unlimited data plan users. i am not goint to debate or post the warnings i received, so believe me or don't, i really do not care, nor am i going to waste my time posting screen shots.
i escallated my throttling down to the wireless office of the president, and spent 45 minutes on the situation with them. fyi, i posted the new wireless office of the president, and it is segregated into 5 regions in the u.s.a., and the number, which i tested again today to confirm, 2/2/2012, is 866-751-5784.
in my case, i do 2 gb to 3 gb per month. i was fed up, so i went for the 3 gb plan for $30, the same as i paid before, and for each 1 gb i go over, i pay $10. so, 3 gb or below i pay $30. for 3 to 4 gb, i pay $10 extra. they do not bill for partial gbs, so if you use 3.5 gb, you pay the $10 for the extra full 1 gb for over 3 to under 4 gb.
my conclusion is life is too short, and at least i am only hit with $10 per 1 gb, and i am fed up with throttling down. i have given up, and tired of this, period. they win, i loose, but at least no more throtlling down. i feel it is a big lie, there is no way to confirm what they claim, and it is a scam, but i would rather not be throttled down.
