Root Needing Help: What Did I Do To My Phone?

RELiG

Newbie
I just bought a Droid X2, because I liked my Droid X so much. The problem is on my Droid X and Im basically just wanting to know what I did to mess it up? And is there anyway I can fix it. Ok so lets get into the problem. Droid X been rooted for about a year via Z4root. Everything was working fine, not 1 problem. Then after downloading the OTA .605 update, it threw my phone out of wack. Pictures not showing up, problems charging, everything force closing etc. Basically the only thing I wanted was the WiFi teether, cause I work 16.5hr shifts and ALOT of sites are blocked at work, so I bring my laptop in and surf off my phones wifi. Needless to say the new update unrooted me, therefor my wifi (Barnacle) quit working. I tried to to go back, so I flashed another .sbf file. I wiped everything clean before flashing. Now after my Droid X boots up it shows the "unlock" and "sound" icons w/ a blue triangle by my battery life. If I slide the icon over to unlock pretty much nothing happens and my phone will eventually freeze. When I go to hold camera+volume+power I can sent to the bootloader. Im sure theres questions your wondering thats not in this, but ask away and Ill try my best to answer them. Im not a complete noob at Androids or technology in general, but I dont know what to do to fix it, if it can even be fixed. Any input welcomed ... Thanks

Problem number 1: NEVER accept an ota update if you are rooted. Every single guide to rooting tells you this.

Not sure what an sbf file is, but I'm 99% positive you can only flash zip files in recovery.

If you are having this many problems, just flash a stock rom and stay rooted, or run an RUU and re-root after. No need to buy a whole new phone.

Yes :/ well in my only defense, I havent been on forums since I learned how to root it the 1st time. I know its my fault though

System Boot File? Idk honestly. Just seems like there is SOOO many different variables and things you do/dont do in situations and I took a gamble without fully knowing what was going on...and I paid for it. I rooted my BB Pearl and my X with no problems what so ever. So thats why I just dove into it without doing much research.

I know there are 3483728547824880 ROMS out there, so how do I know which one is the right one? Whats RRU? Im scared to root now, it seemed so simple and since I dont even know what I did wrong, makes me not want to even attempt it :(

Please post in the correct area, this is the Droid X2 forum. Just saying, someone might accidentally give the incorrect advice.

an sbf is a file with the software packaged up and you use rsd lite to flash it while in bootloader. When you boot up, the unlock and sound buttons are apart of the stock lock screen. When u open up, you might still have your data, apps, etc... But your phone number has been wiped. That explains the triangle.

Sorry for posting in the wrong spot.

I will try to add some more info on what happened cause I would like to fix it maybe.

Well since my X has been messed up Ive tried to use RSD lite like 3 times. It goes through the whole process and completes, but after it reboots and I go to unlock it, nothing is there. The top bar has that triangle and my battery life, but if I hit the icon to bring up my apps nothing happens basically. So Im sure Im wrong about this, but Im thinking I either flashed a bad/corrupted file, flashed a wrong file and now it seems like nothing I flash on there at this point will work because of whats already on it? Again Im just guessing? So it seems like I need a way to delete EVERYTHING thats on it and flash the right file the 1st time, but I dont know how to do that because I cant get into the 'Recovery' mode to 'Wipe' everything clean. When I press cam+vol+power it takes me to Bootloader and not Recovery. Im trying to make the most sense I can. Thanks for your help so far
