Help Negative SMTP reply 550 5.1.1

I had an email that obviously didn't go through but I cant find anyway to clear out this error message permanently. I've cleared it from the notifications but it keeps reappearing and if I open it, it just opens the email account but there's no way to see where to clear out the failed sent message.

Gmail app or the Email app. With the gmail app you can delete it. Also might try clearing the cache and data and then force close by going to Setting/Application manager then scroll over to all and locate the offending mail app.

Its actually the k-9 app. When you say scroll over what does that mean and how do I clear the cache? Obviously I'm new to all this.
