Help Netflix over PDAnet

Droid777

Newbie
So over the 4th of July, while at the lake, I was able to stream a movie over Netflix to my laptop connected via free PDAnet, however, now (7/19/10) I went to do it again and it says internet connection error but all the other webpages load fine. Any idea what going on? Did Big Red block it somehow? I can navigate the Neflix site, but can't stream.

The error message I get is:

Connection problem
Error Code N8101-102

Unable to connect to netflix service. Please try again later.

Troubleshooting: Check your Internet and Home network connections and try again.

UPDATE 1:
Tried loading in different browsers after clearing the cashe.
IE - won't load netflix
FF - can navigate site, but cannot connect to movie server
Chrome - can navigate site, but cannot connect to movie server

I thought this might be due to a firewall issue with McAfee, however, I turned off McAfee and experienced the same problem.

This is perplexing as it worked last one week, and now it won't work and I haven't installed any new software.

I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the PDAnet software on both the computer and my Dinc.

Maybe the Gods are telling me I'm not suppose to watch movies anymore. Ha.

Specs:
HP laptop, T7300, 2 gig ram, XP Pro w/sp3.

nope must be something else, i just got done streaming a movie from Netflix on my laptop hooked up by PDAnet

Could the streaming be part of a secure https:// URL? The free version blocks https:// after two weeks.

I will try to remember to test streaming via free pdanet on NetFlix when I get home ...

I didn't know that. I thought it blocked them (https) from the beginning.

No, the free version is fully functional for about two weeks, then it does not connect to https. The full version is something like $19...

I didn't get a chance to try last night, but I will try to remember when I get home today to give it a shot streaming netflix via the Expired PDANet free version and report back.

Just a casual login on the PC with regular internet showed that the login redirects to a secure HTTP. That might be part of the issue...

Likely the https situation. In any case, buying EZ TEther for $9.99 was one of the best software purchases of my life! I watch movies all the time using my Inc and netflix!

I haven't looked into EZ Tether at all .... is there a free trial version? PDA net works fantastic. I just can't justify the price tag for full version. $10 would be more reasonable, I think ...

I thought it was $29.95 or something like that when I was looking too. Either way, when another option is available that does the same exact thing for about half the price I would go with the less expensive option.

From the PDANet site (Junefabrics) as of today:

1. The price of a single license is $23.95 ($18.95 now for a limited time). It is a one time purchase for the Android version. One license covers one phone (you can reuse the license if you switch to a new Android phone). There is no limit on the computer side.

2. Your license gives you unlimited free upgrades. However we do not provide any warranty for the software.

The same problem happens with me. Some days it works over pdanet and some days it doesn't. And yes I am over my trial period so I know for sure that netflix does not use https:// to stream movies. If any one has found the solution please update it here.

I just found out the solution to the problem with pdanet and Netflix. Netflix does use https somewhere to stream the movie. I have had pdanet for more than 30 days and so now I cannot go to any secure sites. I uninstalled pdanet from both the phone and pc and then resinstalled and the netflix streaming started working. The fresh install of pdanet will allow me to go to secure site for the next 30 days so I think I am good for the next 30 days.
