Help Netflix wont connect via wifi

cntryby

Newbie
I am trying to use netflix on my phone, so when I travel I can watch a movie. (not during travel but at my destination.)

I frequently have access to free wifi, but I'm not able to get netflix to work on wifi.

It works great on 4g, but will not connect at all via wifi. It just sits there for a little bit then pops up with;

"Exit", obviously leaves netflix, "connect" gives;

Then back to the pop up.

I've tried going in to netflix via 4g then selecting wifi playback only. But after leaving 4g it won't connect.

I've reloaded netflix several times, I've cleared the data under app manager, I've wiped partition cache, reboot with battery pull, with no luck.

Any suggestions?

Uhhh... don't know what happened on the size of those screen shots... I re-sized them and they looked normal during preview but they are huge after submitting the thread... sorry.

Netflix updates Android app with 'WiFi only' playback to keep mobile data usage in check

The smartest solutions to problems are often the simplest of all. In that spirit, Netflix is introducing a feature to its Android app that'll keep unknowing viewers from chewing up their mobile data plan. New to the settings menu, users will discover an option that restricts video playback to WiFi networks.

I just subscribed to Netfilx, I getting my free first month. Right now I have Captain America playing om my GS3 and the quality is outstanding using WiFi.
I didn't touch any settings to setup WiFi, it just started working. I'm waiting on a cable I ordered to hook my TV to my phone.;)

Well, did some out of town work... and wouldn't ya know it... worked perfect. Great quality, great picture, flawless stream.

Get back home, won't connect.

Dang... lol

Anybody know what to look for on my network?

I only use wifi at home and everything else work perfectly.

Does your GS3 connect with your WiFi? Does it show under WiFi settings on your phone? You might need to change the channel if another WiFi is interfering with yours, like a neighbor's.

I have no neighbors... Lol.

Everything works great on my home network with my gsiii except netflix.

I've looked at my router and software and at all my firewall settings but can't find anything that looks pertinent.
Not a huge deal cause if I'm home, I'm gonna use the tv or pc anyway.

Still though, I like everything to work!
