Network locked

Hi guys,

Done a search of the G2 threads on here but was unable to find any answers.

My wife got a new G2 the other day and has kindly donated it to me and she is going to have my Nexus 4, all good until I put my sim in the phone and find out it's locked to T-Mobile.

She tried to call them to get it unlocked so I could use it but they said they couldn't due to contract reasons for the next 6 months.

So I've done some digging and managed to get some network codes supplied to me and instructions on how to go about removing the lock, but for the life of me I can't seem to get to the screen that asks me to put in the unlock code.

The instructions I've used so far are as follows:

Method #1 Insert a non accepted simcard, and enter code when prompted for a code
OR
Method #2 Go to the dial screen and press "2945#*model number#"
for example if its a p999 you enter "2945#*999#" or if its a p990 you enter "2945#*990#" etc

So, as soon as you turned on the phone after putting in the foreign (non-T-Mo) SIM, it didn't prompt you right away to enter any code?

I just tried this, went to the Phone Application as if I were dialing a number, and entered:

2945#*803#

As soon as I entered the second "#", immediately I was into an unlock menu. I then backed out because I didn't have any codes. My model number is D-803 so I entered 803 above; I'm not sure what the model number is for the T-Mo UK version, possibly on the box?

Thanks for replying so quickly.

Once I put my sim in all I got was a "Network locked" where it usually displays the name of the network you are on, but I didn't get any messages or prompts regarding entering any codes.

I tried the phone application with the different methods you saw in my original post, the one with the model numbers, I tried all 3 I know of, 801, 802 and 803.

802 is the model of the version I have here.

I thought its was supposed to bring up the menu after the last # because it does when you do it for the IMEI number, but for some reason it doesn't do anything on this phone, hence why I tried to press the dial button and got the MMI error.

Really stuck now because I have no idea what to do lol

Massive red face time, I was entering the code incorrectly :stupid:

For some reason I was repeatedly putting the number in the wrong order lol, put it in correctly and managed to unlock the phone, happy times :)

Big thanks for the quick reply.

Great to hear! I was going to suggest one more thing, and that was to put the T-Mo SIM (wife's) back in for a few minutes to try the phone dial again (because I had my own carrier's SIM in while trying to get to the unlock screens), but glad it wasn't necessary.

PS - nice to have a wife that will give you the new phone and take your old one. :D
