Help Network mode missing from settings

when i go to settings-> wireless and network->mobile networks. i do not see an option for network mode. i only see use packet data,data roaming,access point names and network operators.

i am using android version 2.3.6. Any ideas why this could be missing?

I am facing same issue with my Micromax A75.
Probable casue may be that prviously I selected option GSM only. But no further idea for this.

I believe that's just how the i777 is. I've used two of them and packet data is the only option.

You can dial *#*#4636#*#* and get a bunch of options to change the network but it never works for me.
