Hello

I am planning to buy a android phone, my requirements are:

1) Good audio Performance, call as well as music (with headphones)
2) 3.5mm Audio Jack
3) Multi-touch Capacitive Screen, don't need physical keypad.
4) Video Out: to connect to my TV (HDMI / DLNA)
5) Conference calling
6) Video Calling: may even be over skype etc (front camera)
7) WiFi (hotspot: connect other devices to internet through mobile)
8) If phone does not have ICS by default, it should be upgradable to that.
9) Sony Ericsson, Samsung, HTC Only
I am not into game's, rather better to say, i don't play games.
Music is very imp
My budget ideally is 15K, but i can add another 2-3K if that's gonna make a great difference in performance.

I have some queries:
1) As now quad core processors are available, should i still go for Single core or should i look for a bare minimum of dual core.
2) Why does some phone specially mention facebook/twitter integration, they can be accessed if a browser is there in the phone. Am i right??

As i am from India, so if kindly suggest some phones that are available in here

Thanks in advance :)
Rajan

Hello and welcome to the Forums!

I am not completely sure which phones are available in India however I am pretty confident the Samsung Galaxy S2 is available there. It would do everything on your list. I would suggest you check it out!

Thanks for the welcome :)

Well, i already considered Galaxy S2, but its out of my budget .. Its over 25K :(

Infact i found one that suits most of my requirements Sony Ericsson Walkman Series, its within my budget also 12-13K, but when i checked its reviews it says .. its sound quality isn't good enough & it has some rebooting issues (cnet, gsmarena)

You can suggest any other phones, i will check if its available here in india, most of them are available actually :)

I have the Xperia mini Pro and it suits me quite well .\
Xperia Live will be a bit larger and similar .

I dont read much reviews and believe them . An audiophile review is quite different from an end user experience .
You go and check the music yourself .Easy peasy .

As far as ICS is concerned ,only the 2011 Sony Ericsson lineup has been promised ICS in the mid range category .
Samsung has made it clear that solo core Phones wont get ICS . Dont know about HTC .

You can check the HTC One V which has ICS already and should be in your "extended" budget .

SE Live hits the sweet spot IMO .(I would have purchased it but I like QWERTY in my phones )

About your queries
1.)About Dual-Quad core query .It really depends on what you are going to do . Unless you are a heavy gamer/tech enthusiast ,even Dual core is not required .
2.)Its a clever marketing gimmick/strategy . I have seen people buy phones specifically for whatsapp or twitter .

The only dual cores in your budget range is the old Optimus 2X, and the Galaxy R, and its not sure if their upgradeable to ICS officially (you can get custom ROMs). The single core Nexus S is upgradeable to ICS though, so is the Sony Ericsson Live. Not sure if the HTC One V is in your budget.

Also, since you aren't playing games, dual or quad core ain't important. I'm using a single core still, and the only reason I can find that I want a new phone for is that I miss a camera flash.

Thanks all for your suggestions :) .. I did some market research..
Samsung Nexus: Its screen is too big & it does not have a FM Radio.
Max screen size that will be comfortable for me is 4.0
Xperia Live: I could not find, can you please tell me the model number.

As suggested by karandpr, that samsung solo core phones won't get ICS upgrade & After doing some research i am trending towards Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro,

In market it is available around 20-21k, but ebay one seller is selling it for 14650. Now i am confused can there be really soooo much of a difference??BRAND NEW Sony Ericsson Xperia pro MK16i MOBILE PHONE+8GB CARD+1YR SELLER WTY | eBay

What is the Model number for Xperia Pro??

Thanks in Advance :)
