[New App] Your SMS. From the web.

UPDATE: app is now free!

Hello, I'm Qasim, a new Android developer, and this is my first application for the Android Market. In this thread I am mainly looking at feedback, your first impressions, and if you consider installing the app, your feedback on the app itself as well. I am not really looking for people to buy my application through this thread, but of course thats a nice plus. The main goal is for me to improve it and make the app's first impression better.

My app is called "SMS To Web", it is an android application that lets you access a web application, which allows you to manage your SMS, through the biggest platform available: the web. The website for the app is SMS to Web

What do you think of the app? I will quote my description for it:

Please visit http://sms.qas.im for a full explanation of this Android application, and for support
SMS to Web is both an Android application and a web application. After purchasing the Android app, you are able to register an account for the web application. The web app is ICS (Android 4.0) inspired, and lets you manage your SMS, entirely from your computer's browser. Using Google's Cloud to Device Messaging system (C2DM), you are able to both send and receive SMS messages, all from the web application.
FEATURES
-Send and receive SMS messages from the web application
-Add contacts from the web application
-Has low battery usage because of C2DM (Will barely take any battery to operate)
-Works wirelessly with any internet connection (WiFi, 3G, 4G, LTE, etc.)
HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, feel free to e-mail me, the developer. I am always available to chat, and if you have any problems, I am always ready to help you. WANT TO REQUEST A FEATURE?
If there is something I love most, it is users wanting to help contribute. If you have any ideas or a new feature you would like to see in the next update, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks.

Well probably the most glaring concern is how are you accessing the messages? Sending copies to an online server? And how secure is that server if that's how you do it?

They are sent through an SSL connection, using Google's C2DM service. Google also uses SSL so the data is being sent securely. Thanks for the concern, however. Security was my number one concern, after the functionality.

If anyone wishes to try it for free for a bit, just ask, but if you do end up trying it temporarily, please do leave feedback as that is what I want. Thanks!

UPDATE: The app is now free, most likely forever. This is my first app, and the only way to get real feedback is to drop the price tag.

I set up the app, and tried it. Had a few issues: 1. The contacts when I click on new chat were in completely random order. 2. I start a chat, and I click to send the message and nothing happens. It won't send. Tried several contacts and two browsers. Messages will not send no matter how many times I click on send. They sit in the edit box.

I uninstalled the app, hoping to try again in the future.

What browsers did you try? And what errors are you getting? (Ctrl+Shift+J), and check error logs (normally in the console in Opera or Chrome, sometimes just shows up).

Namoroman, I think i know the problem, instead of pressing the button to send, try pressing enter, I will fix the button when I have a moment today, but I dont think it fully works.

I used Internet Explorer & Google Chrome. I wasn't getting any error messages, it just wouldn't send. I think I tried hitting enter but I will try again.

I was able to get it to work this time by hitting enter. A few questions/suggestions: Is there any way to get the phone to display the messages I send? My phone and the web app receive their messages, but any that I send from the web app don't appear on my phone. Also, can you incorporate a way to have a contact name entry field where if you start typing the name of a contact it tries to auto complete? This would make the random order of contacts a non-issue. I like what you have so far.

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I will look into them. It is possible to have the sent messages shown in the app, that will definitely be hitting the next update :)
