New AT&T Phone: Samsung Infuse 4G

4.5" SuperAMOLED Plus screen
termed as a Galaxy S Phone
1.2Ghz single-core Hummingbird processor
no gingerbread, will sport android 2.2
4G is just a words game, no real LTE technology, only works on HSPA+

is this a good phone, or is samsung still jerking us... surprised at&t has picked this up, i thought theyd milk us for the captivate for as long as they can.

This seemed a little tempting but I would be more interested in the Inspire, if it's not going to be a Desire HD device, otherwise the Atrix as well.

The optimisim here is astounding..

To answer Ops original question.

if you get a phone on a network known to not handle upgrades well.

From a manufacturer known to not upgrade.

You lose all right to complain when android 2.4 comes out.. and you still don't have 2.3

I'm not pessimistic per se but I will say this in the end if your phone works great without the latest and greatest and your OK with that than any of the phones are gonna be OK. Lets be honest unless you have a nexus no update is either expected or guarenteed

Just because its not expected or guaranteed doesn't mean we won't have a forum full of people complaining over it.

And now.. no one has the excuse "oh I didn't know about samsung having such horrible update policy!"

Even though it has a superior camera, 1.2 Ghz processor, superior super amoled PLUS display, a superior operating system, and many more features, it will NEVER be as good as the iphail4...I guarantee that people will STILL compare it to the iphone 4 and call it, "a wanabe" and "another iphone clone" and say that it pales in comparison to the iphone. How can people be so blind?

Yes well that's become the American mo. Complain even though we have no right

Interesting, the IP4 was a brick, required duct tape to function properly, was never fixed, but Steve Jobs convinced users it was ok.

what i meant was samsung releases the captivate without a front facing camera, only a 5mp camera, faulty gps... when higher-end features were all ready available like in a htc evo.

now they release a bigger, better phone but without gingerbread, only a single-core processor when we have phones coming out that have dual-core, that have 2.3. It's like Samsung wants to be a step behind the competition... God knows if they even bothered making sure the GPS works this time!

The captivate had a better processor than evo and SAMOLED display.

and there is only one confirmed dual core phone coming to at&t last time I checked.

Both of the devices I have got in the last month shipped with 1.6 (SE X10 & Dell Streak) and neither has been updated yet, so at least Samsung is in the 2.x range :D

But that is just software, that is easy to update as long as the hardware supports the update, that is the more important issue.
